The creator, William H. Lentz, jr.,  is a life long outdoor enthusiast, and credits his dad, Bill Sr., a native of Whitefish, Montana, with getting him started in the outdoors.

Bill jr. started writing outdoor articles in high school and had a column in his high school newspaper entitled “Willy’s Wild Wilderness”.


He attended Humboldt State Univ. in northern California majoring in wildlife management, with a journalism minor. In college Bill met Pete Haight of Brooklyn, New York, who was a student of the legendary fly fisherman Fran Betters franbetters.com Pete taught Bill the art of fly tying, and fly-fishing for winter steelhead remains Bill’s favorite type of fishing.

While in college Bill took an archery course, and bought his first compound bow soon after, and is an avid bowhunter.

Bill manufactures and packages the “French Ticklure” kokanee/trout spinner on his own along with other outdoor related products.

He recently applied for and received a “vehicle salesperson” license for the purpose of selling RV’s, adding yet another outdoor related product to his web site, and further aiding his passion for getting people into outdoor recreation. He is currently employed with an RV dealership in Sacramento. 

Bill is also is an official big game scorer with Safari Club International, and is on the California Records of Big Game’s staff (CRBG) – a record keeping organization dedicated to officially recording the big game animals in the Golden State. They’re currently the only record keeping organization that recognizes Columbian blacktails existing east of Interstate 5, and lists them as “inland blacktails”.
