The creator, William H. Lentz, jr., is a life long outdoor enthusiast, and credits his dad, Bill Sr., a native of Whitefish, Montana, with getting him started in the outdoors.
Bill jr. started writing outdoor articles in high school and had a column in his high school newspaper entitled “Willy’s Wild Wilderness”.
He attended Humboldt State Univ. in northern California majoring in wildlife management, with a journalism minor. In college Bill met Pete Haight of Brooklyn, New York, who was a student of the legendary fly fisherman Fran Betters franbetters.com Pete taught Bill the art of fly tying, and fly-fishing for winter steelhead remains Bill’s favorite type of fishing.
While in college Bill took an archery course, and bought his first compound bow soon after, and is an avid bowhunter.
